Destiny 2: Forsaken, Bungie’s newest DLC for the shared world shooter, will be going live later today. However, the developer has already begun hyping up its next set of add-ons last week. We got brief look at the Annual Pass’s contents and received confirmation that some much-requested things like Heavy Machine Guns were making a comeback.
But while some new locations were teased, this doesn’t mean that the developer will add new planets with any of the add-ons. Bungie’s Steve Cotton told Polygon, “We’re going to have new places to check out. Sorry, I should be specific. What we call ‘bubbles’ or new spaces; I’m not saying new planets.” So essentially that means new locations on pre-existing planets.
In Destiny 1’s life-cycle, it was the bigger DLCs like The Taken King and Rise of Iron that added large new areas to explore. Destiny 2 took to adding new planets with its DLC with results falling somewhere between mediocre (Curse of Osiris) and decent (Warmind). We’re interested to see what the future could hold for Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra, but at $35 for the Annual Pass, they’ll need to deliver some great content.
