Destiny 2: Forsaken has proven to be exactly what everyone wished it would be- similar to The Taken King with the first Destiny, Forsaken has turned out to be a major overhaul for the game, providing players with tons of meaningful and very well made content.
One of the things about it that people have responded very well to is the location of The Dreaming City, a large, open-ended area that is completely open for exploration as soon as you step foot in it, and where you can get into its raid without having to wait at all.
As it turns out, though, when Bungie were initially conceptualizing the location, it was going to be pretty much what you’d see from any other regular location in Destiny. While speaking at a panel at EGX, Bungie confirmed that initially, the plan was to have players progress through the location via the story at first, and then move on to the raid after that, similar to other regular Destiny locations.
In November of 2017, though, the idea expanded beyond its original stages, and Bungie decided to blow the entire location wide open. And it definitely looks like it paid off too. You can watch the full panel in the video below (courtesy of Eurogamer) to get a lot more interesting details on the development behind the location.
Destiny 2’s Gambit mode is currently in free trial, while its Breakthrough mode debuts in just couple of days, so there’s still plenty to look forward to.
