Destiny 2: Is Queen of the Reef Going To Play A Big Part In The Sequel?

Mara Sov is alive.

While we know that Destiny 2 is apparently going to launch in 2017, we don’t know a ton about what the game will have as part of its content. It appears that Bungie might have actually let a little bit about one of the major characters that is going to be making an appearance. The company also put an end the question of just what happened to the Queen of the Reed, Mara Sov.

During the events of Destiny: The Taken King, Sov and her forces are seen doing battle with the titular character. A massive energy blast seemingly kills the Queen though there had long been talk about the fact that she might have managed to stay alive. In the most recent weekly stream, Bungie did indeed show that Sov had managed to actually survive. The company also said they have big plans for the character in the near future.

Creative Story Head CJ Cowan took the lead when talking about what Bungie has planned for the Queen of the Reef. “This is totally spoiling like Destiny 2020 or something but when we get to that world down the road where that original pirate Queen comes out, I think it’s going to be a really powerful moment.” Cowan said. Those who know the backstory of Destiny know that the “original pirate queen” is referring to Sov. The story changed before the game was released and Sov was once supposed to be a Pirate who battled characters during the story mode. She was transformed in edits to the Queen of the Reef. With the comments made in the stream, it appears we are going to see more of Mara Sov in the future.
