Destiny 2 Population Rebounds to 1 Million+ Following Solstice Event

Signs of life for Bungie's MMO shooter.

Bungie’s Destiny 2 has been very troubled since its launch, due to excessively negative rhetoric in the community about everything that it lacks compared to the original game, as well as Bungie and Activision continuing to make foolish decisions with the game. The title has bled players as a result- which finally prompted Bungie to start promising some real changes of the kind the fanbase wants to see.

It seems like Bungie’s hard work is starting to pay off, and get the attention of players, who finally want to look into the game again. As Destiny Tracker has pointed out, the cumulative active playerbase of the game across all platforms rose up to over million thanks to the Solstice event that was just held; compared to the ~350,000 it was at before the event, that’s a pretty good rise, and indicates Bungie still has a community to work with, as long as they deliver them something they want.

All eyes will now doubtless be on Destiny 2: Forsaken, the first major expansion for the game since its launch last year. Many, including Bungie themselves, are presumably hoping that it will reinvigorate Destiny 2 much like The Taken King did with the first game back in 2015.
