Players of Bungie’s Destiny 2 have been enjoying themselves with Season of Opulence, the third premium content release of the Annual Pass. Much of this is due to the Menagerie, a new six player matchmade activity that allows players to control the drops they receive. However, an exploit allowed players to net more rewards than they should have from the end chest.
Basically, the bug lets players quickly leave the area and then run back to loot the end chest as many times as they’d like. Bungie finally addressed the same in its weekly update, noting, “It felt reminiscent of when players were farming treasure keys from chests on their Sparrows leading up to House of Wolves.”
Of course, this exploit will be patched, but there’s still time to farm the Menagerie chest. “Consider this an error in your favor. We haven’t rushed to fix it, but when we patch on July 9, this loophole will officially close, allowing only one opening of the chest per completion. Until then, we invite you take advantage of this all you like. Grow fat with strength.”
Players have been somewhat mixed on this. While there is agreement that this is an exploit, there’s a feeling that it’s the main reason why Menagerie is worth doing. Of course, as with many loot games, if players could easily obtain their god roll items, then it would shorten the longevity of certain activities. It’s a balancing act, so we’ll see how Bungie handles this.
