Fans have complained for a long time about Bungie’s handling of Destiny 2 and the Eververse has been no small part in that discussion. In a recent This Week at Bungie post, director Luke Smith some of the changes that would be coming regarding cosmetics. Transmogrification will be coming in earnest with players able to turn armor into Universal Ornaments to use as they please.
Currently in “early development” and expected in Year 4 (which should be between September/October 2020 to the same period in 2021), this can be done either in-game or with Silver. There will also be new armor to earn each season which will be earned in-game and not from the Season Pass or Eververse. In fact, Season 11 armor planned for Eververse has been removed and will be earned through playing activities.
If that wasn’t enough, Raids, Trials of Osiris and Dungeons will reward vanity items along with Power and other loot. Each will have “at least one accessory” to earn while Adept weapons are coming back to Trials. Furthermore, Trials of Osiris will have brand new armor, accessories and weapons in Season 13 with new armor planned for each year.
Players can also look forward to the next raid having brand new armor, weapons and Exotic accessories. New armor will also be added to Strikes, Gambit and Crucible with the next expansion. A new Pursuit Weapon will also be added with each season starting in Season 12. Bright Dust will also be account-specific instead of character-specific to allow players with one character to earn more Bright Dust.
Overall, these are positive changes and there’s a lot more in the actual blog post. There’s no news yet on when Destiny 2’s next expansion will launch but the game itself will be coming to Xbox Series X and PS5. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
