The Destiny franchise and its journey of development is, in a lot of ways, as interesting as story as any that has been told via its ongoing narrative. The live service game has gone through publisher changes, as well as massive changes to how content is delivered. But one of the least surprising changes is that Destiny 2 will be coming to some shiny new toys soon.
In a Tweet from the official Bungie Twitter, which you can see below, it’s pretty clearly stated that the current ongoing game will come to next generation platforms with more details promised to come soon. While the tweet in question is a response to information about Xbox Series X, it’s stated as “platforms” – plural – so it almost certainly is referring to PS5 as well.
The question now is in what form with the game take on next generation consoles. Will we get new natively released versions for Microsoft and Sony’s new consoles, or will it be more of a straightforward backward compatibly for current copies on PS4 and Xbox One? We will probably find out soon.
