DICE Ending Monthly Battlefield 1 Updates In June, Likely To Focus on Battlefield 5 Going Forward

DICE looking to the future?

Ever since its launch in 2016, DICE have been supporting Battlefield 1 with monthly updates and addition of new content. That, however, will be ending in June, which is when the studio will be releasing their last monthly update for the game. And that makes sense, of course. Given the fact that October of this year sees the launch of a new Battlefield game, DICE will obviously be shifting their focus to that.

“We’re continuing monthly updates for Battlefield 1 until June 2018, in which you can expect fresh content together with various tweaks and fixes for the player experience,” DICE content lead Jonas Elfving wrote in an update on the official Battlefield website. “Enjoy the road ahead and keep jumping in to Battlefield 1 regularly – you don’t want to miss what’s coming.”

As for up until June, May will see the addition of new maps to the game, while in June, 40 player single map mode Shock Operations will be added to the game. The future of the franchise in long term lies somewhere else, though- Battlefield V, as it’s been called in reports, will launch in October, and will reportedly be set during WW2, and might feature battle royale mode.
