Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny Receives First Review From Famitsu

The publication reports 30 hours to clear the game and over 200 hours of additional activities.

It’s been a relatively slow month for releases in Japan but that will change soon. Gust’s Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy is out next week along with Nippon Ichi Software’s Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny. Famitsu had the first review for the tactical RPG this week and awarded it a 33/40 (with critic scores breaking down into 9/8/8/8).

Interestingly enough, the publication awarded the same score to Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance when it first released. Disgaea 6 is stated to take around 30 hours to finish but players can expect over 200 hours of gameplay with additional activities factored in. Whether that factors in the end-game – along with grind to level cap 9999 – remains to be seen.

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny releases on January 28th for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Japan. It will launch worldwide this Summer exclusively for the Switch. The story focuses on zombie named Zed who embarks on a quest to defeat the God of Destruction. For more details on the gameplay, check out a deep dive video here.
