Dishonored 2 is a right old mess on PC- it’s poorly optimized, with crashes, bugs, glitches, frame rate drops, and more, all over the place. bethesda and Arkane have said that they are looking into the errors, and that there will be a patch issued to address these issues soon, which is great, because this is genuinely a fun game that deserves better than this.
But while we wait for the patch, I suppose, we need to try and get this game to work the best we can. That’s what we do in this guide- we’ve tried to list some common fixes for the game on PC that hopefully work for you too.
But first, the specs:

- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB or better

RECOMMENDED:
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit versions)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-4770/AMD FX-8350 or better
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB/AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB or better
- Storage: 60 GB available space

GENERAL FIXES
Okay, Dishonored 2‘s multitude of problems can generally be broken down to the game being poorly optimized and not working as it should. Now, there’s no targeted fix for a lot of these problems, but see if doing the following things helps you out:
- Make sure the drivers on your PC are updated
- If you have two GPUs, make sure yo are using the discrete GPU instead of the integrated one
- Set Dishonored 2‘s priority to High in the Task Manager (apparently the game has a bug that almost always prevents this from being done)
- Turn off any background programs, including firewalls, chat clients, anti virus, video recorders, and overlays
- Disconnect from the internet
- Lower the settings on the game:
- Try the Auto presets, which should lower visual quality but maintain frame rate
- Lower texture details
- De-activate TXAA anti aliasing
INPUT LAG
- Go to game settings, turn off Mouse Smoothness
GAME CRASHES
Windows 7 players are reporting random crashes for the game. To fix this:
- Update your Windows with Windows6.1-KB2670838 patch
FRAME RATE DROPS AND STUTTERING
- For Nvidia users only, open the Nvidia Control Panel, open the profile for Dishonored 2, and change “Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames” to 1. Also turn off Nvidia HBAO+.
Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Dishonored 2.
