DOOM: Bethesda Unveils Warpath Game Mode And Hack Modules

Warpath is DOOM's version of King of the Hill.

February has finally been the month where we’ve gotten a ton of information about what we can expect in DOOM. Bethesda announced the game’s release date, as well as how long players can expect to spend on its story mode. Earlier this week, we also got new information on one of the title’s multiplayer game modes, known as Warpath. Bethesda announced the new mode on it’s official website and has said the mode is this title’s version of King of the Hill.

What sets the mode apart is that the capture point actually moves around the map in a circle that players will be able to clearly see on their maps. There is also something called a Demon Rune that will allow the players to transform into a kind of demon. The company announced players will choose between “rushing toward the power-up to turn into a Marine-destroying Demon; clustered around the capture point to defend or steal control; or simply roaming around looking to pick off any errant foes.”

Along with the new mode, single use items that players can pick up called Hack Modules were announced as being part of the game. These are earned through the game’s progression system and aren’t weapons, so much as things that will allow players to have greater success in multiplayer modes. Among the Hack Modules featured on the Bethesda website were things like Power Seeker and Vital Signs. Power Seeker allows players to see the location of nearby power ups. Vital Signs will display a health bar over opponents. You’ll be able to check out these items and much more when DOOM launches for the PS4, PC and Xbox One on May 13, 2016.
