DOOM Passes 500,000 Copies Sold on PC Alone

Excellent, now give us a new Quake.

Bethesda and id Software’s excellent reboot of the pioneering FPS franchise, the simply titled DOOM, has apparently seen the appropriate commercial success to go along with its great critical reception, and reception with the community- according to SteamSpy, the PC version of DOOM alone has now sold over 500,000 copies.

Bethesda and id are doubtless happy at the game’s success, which represents their second straight successful reboot of a classic id property- prior to this, Wolfenstein: The New Order in 2014 had already given us a taste of some great modernized old school shooting action, so this is becoming somewhat of a habit for them now.

DOOM is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and yes, PC. It’s a game that we highly and whole heartedly recommend- especially if you’ve bemoaned the decline of game design in modern day shooters. Hopefully, Bethesda and id Software follow up on the success of this game with a new, equally well rebooted Quake.
