Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s character creator is set to offer a robust toolset of customization options, enabling players to put their own stamp on their custom protagonist, while multilayered progression mechanics will also seemingly enable extensive customization beyond that as well. On top of that, the action RPG will also let you tweak your build and your party with gear and armour, as per new details revealed by Game Informer.
What gear and armour pieces you’re equipping will also change based on which character you’re looking at. For every party member, you’ll be able to equip armour, a weapon, a ring, and an accessory, but the range of slots will be much more expanded for Rook, the protagonist, entailing two weapons, two rings, a helmet, an amulet, and a belt. The belt in particular will dictate how effective your healing potions are, while higher quality belts could also come with unique effects, like granting temporary invincibility.
Interestingly enough, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will also feature bespoke armour and gear pieces for both specific classes and characters, which means there are several pieces of armour of gear in the game that have been designed specifically and exclusively either for a certain class or a certain character.
During character creation, players will be able to view “aspirational” armour, which will show what mid- to late-game armour will look like on the Rook that you’ve created, giving you an early glimpse in case you want to make any decisions based on that, while you will also be able to check out what Rook will look like in casual clothing in the less intense cinematics. Additionally, the game will also feature “robust” transmog system.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC this fall. A specific launch date hasn’t yet been announced.
