Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 has received new impressions and gameplay footage, showcasing the open-world action RPG’s combat and world design. However, following a tweet about the game running at an uncapped frame rate, Game Informer asked director Hideaki Itsuno about the same.
Speaking through a translator, Itsuno reiterated the uncapped frame rate. “We’re aiming to go at around or higher than 30 FPS. That is for consoles as well. There are some functions that you can turn on and off, but there aren’t multiple sets of options that you can change at once [likely alluding to visual presets seen in the options of other games on consoles today]. But yeah, the frame rate will come uncapped for all consoles.”
Upon asking for clarification on different graphical modes, the publication was told that there’s only one. So whether you’re playing on PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, the expected performance will roughly remain at 30 frames per second.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches on March 22nd. It takes place in an alternate world from the first game but still focuses on the Arisen, who gathers Pawns to fight against the dragon. The inclusion of only one graphical mode isn’t the only standout element, as it limits fast travel and encourages exploration on foot, doesn’t have quest boards or markers and only offers one save file. Stay tuned for more details leading up to the launch.
