Dynasty Warriors: Origins Features Multiple Endings, 20 Hours for One Playthrough

Producer Tomohiko Sho says players can select a kingdom to align with and even pursue a true ending based on "hidden conditions."

Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a return to the series’ roots in many ways, emphasizing massive one vs. 1000 battles in the Three Kingdoms era (and thankfully no open-world elements). However, it’s offering multiple endings for players to unlock. Speaking to NoisyPixel, Omega Force head and series producer Tomohiko Sho confirmed that unlocking one would take 20 hours.

“Completing one ending will take around 20 hours. The branching paths are determined by the battles you choose, not dialogue options. At the end of the third chapter, players decide which kingdom to align with, shaping the story’s direction,” said Sho.

However, that’s not all, as “hidden conditions” in battles also play a part and even influence the true ending. The conditions for unlocking the latter are unknown, but pursuing different endings allows for unique perspectives on similar conflicts.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins launches on January 17th, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. A free demo featuring the Battle of Sishui Gate is live with four available weapons, customizable Arts, multiple difficulty options, and no time limit (plus PS5 Pro support). Head here to see extensive gameplay of the conflict and how other factors, like Tactics, companions and different objectives, play a role.
