Elden Ring is Expected to Sell 4 Million Units in its First 5 Weeks, According to Bandai Namco

Publisher Bandai Namco is projecting a strong start for FromSoftware's upcoming open world action RPG where sales are concerned.

Elden Ring is probably one of the most highly anticipated upcoming games of 2022, and even with a few months still left until the game is out, the hype surrounding the game is already at a fever pitch. Given all that excitement, it’s not unfair to assume that the game is on track to perform quite well from a commercial perspective, and publisher Bandai Namco agrees with that assertion.

Speaking during a recent quarterly Q&A with investors (via Wccftech), the company said that Elden Ring is expected to have sold 4 million units worldwide by the time the current fiscal term come to a close, which will be on April 1, 2022. That’s just about five weeks after the game’s currently planned release date, so clearly, Bandai Namco is expecting a strong start for the game.

FromSoftware games have, of course, generally enjoyed solid critical and commercial responses. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, for instance, had sold over 5 million units at last count, while the Dark Souls series has collectively sold over 27 million units, of which 10 million can be attributed to Dark Souls 3. As an open world game, perhaps Bandai Namco is hoping to drawn in a larger crowd right off the bat.

Elden Ring launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 25, 2022.
