Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Could Launch After March 31st, 2024

Kadokawa doesn't list the expansion for the rest of the fiscal year and instead has it under "medium to long-term direction."

Though FromSoftware has Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon for August 25th, Elden Ring’s first paid expansion Shadow of the Erdtree is also in development. Rumors indicated it would launch after the former, but it could be farther off than expected.

FromSoftware parent company Kadokawa posted its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2023. Page 19 noted that Elden Ring drove a “significant” sales increase. However, in its forecast for net sales in the second quarter onwards of the current fiscal year (ending on March 31st, 2024), only its mobile games, Armored Core 6, and Spike Chunsoft’s upcoming titles are mentioned.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was not listed. However, it’s under “medium to long-term direction.” Kadokawa said it’s “pursuing the maximization of profit by prolonging the life of IP.” As such, it’s looking like the expansion could launch from April 1st, 2024, onwards. It’s reportedly been in the works since April 2022, two months after the base game’s launch. Stay tuned for further updates.

Elden Ring is available for PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s sold 20.5 million units to date.
