Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have announced Shadow of the Erdtree, the first expansion for Elden Ring. No release date was provided, but there’s some concept art with the promise of walking a “new path together” and experiencing “new adventures in The Lands Between.”

The image seemingly hints at a new character, seen riding a Spectral Steed while various wispy tombstones surround them. In the distance is a tree but darker and more twisted. It could be another Erdtree, though what secrets it holds (especially with how the currently known Erdtree works) remains to be seen.

Various dataminers have discovered 30 new flags for potential boss fights and possible ray tracing support, but it remains to be seen if the expansion implements them. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Elden Ring is available for Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’s crossed 20 million shipments and digital sales worldwide while receiving universal acclaim. Check out our review here.
