Throughout one’s journey in Elden Ring’s The Lands Between, you’ll come across a number of dungeons full of enemies, loot and the usual illusory walls. It’s the Legacy Dungeons where players will really cut their teeth. In a new preview, IGN provided details on Stormveil Castle, which – as discussed here – could either be assailed from the front gate or via a side path with platforming and stealth.
The dungeon is described as similar to Boletarian Palace in Demon’s Souls and even has some explosive barrels lined up in one area which enemies will ignite. Otherwise, there are numerous paths to explore, full of different platforms and items to discover. The Legacy Dungeons have been described as “complex and multi-layered” and encourage this freedom of exploration. Of course, once you get to the roof, you’ll face off against a boss.
This is a foe with multiple arms that’s capable of counter-attacks, slams and even a dragon arm that shoots fire in its second phase. This is only one of several big bosses you’ll fight. Encountering such massive threats in the open field, or engaging in large battles while trying to rob a carriage full of treasure, aren’t uncommon either.
Elden Ring is out on January 21st 2022. It will be coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
