With the release of Fallout 4 just weeks away, it appears that Bethesda is doing a little house cleaning and making sure any questions that surround the game are answered before the title is officially here. As has been the case for a while now, the company has answered these questions by having Pete Hines take to Twitter and put to rest some rumors. Among the most pressing question, judging by how often it’s asked, is whether or not the PS4 will ever offer backwards compatibility for Fallout 3.
This question was born because the Xbox One version of the game is being offered as part of a bundle on launch day, and there are more than few fans of the series who would like the same perks even if they are playing the game using their Sony console. Hines was flat out asked if Fallout 3 was going to be offered on the PS4 somehow and he answered, that it does not appear backwards compatibility is in the cards for PS4.
Taking up other questions on the game, Hines revealed that the modding tool itself would not be offered on the console versions although they will be playable and it will be linked across all platforms. Finally, Hines was asked whether or not he believed buying version of the game that comes with the Pip Boy accessory that was actually twice what the normal retail was worth it. Hines said he couldn’t really give him advice on that but he was, “sorry that they’re charging so much more” and that such a practice “stinks.” Fallout 4 is due out on November 10, 2015.
