The Gfk has released its latest weekly charts for boxed video game sales in the UK (via GamesIndustry), and as it has done since the week it launched, FIFA 22 is on top of the charts once more. The game’s sales continue to be heavily skewed in favour of digital purchases, though that has certainly been the trend for software sales in the UK in recent years.
Far Cry 6 is in second place for a third consecutive week, while Metroid Dread drops down to seventh place. To round out the top 5, number of games have jumped up in the charts, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe coming up to No. 4, Animal Crossing: New Horizons to No. 4, and Minecraft to No. 5. Interestingly enough, thanks to the fact that Halloween is coming up and Capcom giving it a recent PR and marketing push, Resident Evil Village has seen a 227% week-on-week increase in sales and jumped up to No. 12. Back 4 Blood, which debuted in fourth place last week, has fallen to No. 13 with a 76% week-on-week drop in sales.
The only new release in the top 10 this week is The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. Physical launch sales for Supermassive’s horror adventure title are down 27% from what Little Hope sold last year, though apparently the actual drop in total copies sold isn’t significant. 48% of the game’s sales came on the PS5, 36% on PS4, and 16% on Xbox.
