FIFA 23 Debuts on Top of Weekly UK Retail Charts, Beating FIFA 22’s Launch Sales

Splatoon 3 is finally pushed down to second place, while Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga sees a major boost and jumps up to No. 3.

The Gfk has released its latest weekly data for physical sales in the UK (via GamesIndustry), and to no one’s surprise, FIFA 23 has debuted on top of the charts. The last game in the series to be called FIFA, it has seen higher launch physical sales than FIFA 22.

Though it’s not a massive gap, this is the first time in a while the series has seen improved launch physical sales over a predecessor after two successive years of decline. 41% of FIFA 23’s sales were on the PS5, 30% on the PS4, 17% on the Xbox One, and 6% each on the Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch (the Nintendo Switch version’s launch sales are 20% higher than FIFA 22).

Splatoon 3, which has occupied the top spot ever since its launch in September, has dropped down to second position. Meanwhile, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has seen a whopping 252% increase from last week, with 62% of last week’s sales coming on the PS5.

A couple of new releases have entered the charts as well, but outside of the top 10. Valkyrie Elysium debuts at No. 10, while The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero comes in at No. 18.
