Much like Final Fantasy 7 Remake before launch, Square Enix has released a free demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also playable for PC users through the Microsoft Store, which is good news given its absence from Steam.
The demo consists of the beginning all the way up to the conclusion of Chapter 2 – a hefty amount of content for free. Best of all, not progressing to the Mythril Mine means you’re free to explore around, engage in random battles, and whatnot.
Of course, the other benefit is that your save data carries over, and unlocks some useful items and a Kupo Charm (which increases gathered resources). You can even unlock some Achievements/Trophies in the game. Just make sure that you don’t create a save file for the base game first – it won’t be possible to transfer demo data, though the bonuses will still apply.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches on June 3rd for Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via the Microsoft Store. Check out our reviews of the PS5 and PC versions to see if it’s worth it. You can also read about how Final Fantasy 7 Remake fared on the Switch 2 (the answer being: Very Good).
