Final Fantasy 8 Remastered Potentially Has Voiceovers, May Get Physical Release – Rumor

Could the remaster be doing more than expected?

Final Fantasy 8 is finally coming back with a long overdue remaster later this year. We have seen that the remaster seems to be getting lot of extra work via some comparison shots with the original release that you can check out here. But it seems that Square Enix could very well be going the extra mile and possibly adding voiceovers, and also giving the remaster a physical release.

The original game released on the PlayStation in 1999. This was long before voice acting became a standard, therefore there were no voiceovers in that release. But interestingly, as you can see below, the game’s website source code has been datamined to get a description of the game that will, presumably, go live at a later date. In it, there is explicit mention of “English and Japanese voiceover”- so could we actually be seeing voice acting to the remaster?

Not only that, it also could be possible that the game will see a retail release on consoles, as Base.com has listing for it that’s still live. Neither the re-release of 7 nor 9 had addition voice acting or a retail release.

This will have to remain speculation for now due to the nature of this information, but could Final Fantasy 8 Remastered be a much bigger project than expected? We’ll have to see when the game releases some time later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
