Final Fantasy 8 Remastered Will Use Original PlayStation Version’s Music

Thankfully, we don't have to worry about the subpar PC conversion.

Final Fantasy VIII

Final Fantasy 8 is finally coming back to us with the release of Final Fantasy 8 Remastered later in the year. The ‘lost’ PlayStation Final Fantasy title has been absent for far too long, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the game’s return to modern machines. Thankfully, it’ll also sound very familiar, too.

The recent re-releases of Final Fantasy 7 and 9 were actually based on their PC versions that came out after the original PlayStation releases. This made some worry that the same may be true of as well. If you’re not aware, in the previous PC version, for whatever reason, different MIDI compositions were used in soundtracks that were generally considered subpar. Thankfully, the developer behind the remaster, DotEmu, jas confirmed that Final Fantasy 8 Remastered will use the original soundtrack. You can see the tweet below.

Final Fantasy 8 Remastered will release later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. If you’re curious how the remaster stacks up to the original, take a look here.
