The past several weeks have been extremely profitable for games, especially in the UK. If it isn’t Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Forza Horizon 4, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 breaking records, then it’s Red Dead Redemption 2, which topped UK charts at launch and had the biggest second week of the year in UK, as well as the all-time biggest opening weekend in entertainment as a whole. However, it’s interesting to learn that Forza Horizon 4 is also doing very well for itself, and is currently out-selling Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at UK retail.
This information comes courtesy of Christopher Dring, who works for GamesIndustry.biz. On Twitter, Dring noted that both titles had spent five weeks on the charts, but it is Forza Horizon 4 that is currently selling more. He also added that these are life-to-date sales. It’s especially interesting, considering that Forza Horizon 4 is a console exclusive and also available on Xbox Game Pass, while Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is on three platforms instead of two.
We learned shortly after Forza Horizon 4’s launch that it was the fastest-selling game in the series for the UK. Its success isn’t really too surprising in that regard. Despite trailing behind, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has been doing pretty well as well, setting new sales record for the series in this generation so far, and helping prop up Ubisoft’s stock.
