Playground Games’ Forza Horizon offshoot of the original Motorsport series has become immensely popular, with each successive entry being better than the last, and Horizon 3 being, arguably, the best game on the Xbox One to date. One of the many, many things the games excel at, just like the Forza Motorsport series, is that they’re always absolute beasts when it comes to the visuals department (as yesterday’s new screenshots exhibit perfectly well), showing off best-in-class graphics and technical achievements, and pushing the limits of the hardware they’re on every single time.
Forza Horizon 4 looks no different, and not only will it be pushing the Xbox One to its limits, it will also be leveraging the Xbox One X’s added capabilities very well. We recently sat down for an interview with Playground Games’ Ralph Fulton, who’s the creative director of Forza Horizon 4, and when we asked him about the game’s visual options on the enhanced version of Microsoft’s console, he gave us a pretty emphatic answer.
“Forza Horizon 4 is a graphical showcase for Xbox One X,” Fulton told GamingBolt, “giving players a chance to see the console’s power through both 4K/30 FPS or 1080o/60 FPS options.”
“With Forza Horizon 4, our goal was to give players a fun adventure within our open shared world with dynamic weather and changing seasons, regardless of platform,” he said when speaking of how they’ve made use of the added powers of the One X, before going on to discuss visual options on PC as well (which have already been confirmed). “Players on Xbox One X and high-end Windows 10 PCs will enjoy better graphical fidelity through native 4K resolution, improved textures, HDR, and improved lighting, among other features. With the additional headroom provided by Xbox One X, we are offering players the option to play the game at 60 frames per second at a lower resolution.”
What about the base Xbox One, though? Well, the game won’t be hitting 4K resolutions or 60 frames there, as you might expect, and you can instead look forward to what are, at least in comparison, much more standard specs. “The base Xbox One version will run at 1080p/30 FPS, delivering on our vision of a vast and beautiful open world of Britain with dynamic seasons,” Fulton said.
Our full interview with Ralph Fulton will be going up shortly, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, if you’re wondering whether or not your PC will be able to run Forza Horizon 4, you can check the system requirements here. For more information on Forza Horizon 4, head on over to our wiki page.
