Forza Motorsport 7 Day One Patch is 50 GB, Some Features Unavailable At Launch

Turn 10 talks about features that will be coming after Forza 7 launches.

Turn 10 Studios’ day one patch for Forza Motorsport 7 on the Xbox One is heavy. Like about 50 GB heavy. This is roughly half of the game though since the remaining 45 GB will be available on disc for players.

Speaking about the immense installation size, Turn 10 noted that this was its biggest car game yet. “More than 700 cars at launch, 32 of the world’s greatest tracks (our largest lineup ever), a massive career in the Forza Driver’s Cup, and of course a huge list of ever-changing multiplayer and competitive modes that will keep players busy no matter their skill level or driving preferences. This is the largest game we’ve ever released in terms of sheer footprint size as well.”

Though playable just from the disc, you’ll need to download content like the Driver’s Club campaign unlocks. The developer made sure to note that your first run of the Forza Driver’s Cup could be completed with just the disc. The additional content including Competitive and Showcase events, new Trophies, Driver Gear rewards and so on is only accessible with the update.

However, every single feature won’t exactly be available at launch. Turn 10 revealed that the Auction House and League Play along with #Forzathon events would be coming later. “Players looking for those features will see the ‘Coming Soon’ notice by the features in the game menus. As our community of players grows in the weeks after launch, we will be enabling those features in game.”

The developer went into more detail about these events and content. “Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing our series of events in Forza 7, including new #Forzathon events, constantly updated Rivals and Hoppers that will make full use of our new homologation system (more on that next week), new Prize Crates (featuring goodies like Mod cards, Driver Gear, new cars, and more) as well as unveiling cars in our Specialty Vendor (which will feature a regular cadence of unique cars for purchase), and more. The months ahead will also see new features to the game, which we’ll outline in further detail soon.”

If that weren’t enough, Xbox One X owners could download a free update to allow the game to play at native 4K and 60 FPS on the console. Forza Motorsport 7 will arrive on October 3rd for all Xbox One owners but those who order the Ultimate Edition can start playing it on September 29th. The Xbox One X is out on November 7th.
