G-Star Gaming Expo in Korea gets dominated by CryEngine 3

CryEngine 3 gaining popularity?

Crytek showed seven games created using CryEngine 3 to G-Star gaming expo show attendees which was held in South Korea, and needless to say, they really made a great impression. Their game Warface, which is a free-to-play MMO is doing really well in Asian markets, and has also gained 5 million subscribers in Russia.

Plenty of developers like Wemade, XL Games and ESTSoft have licensed CryEngine 3 so that they can create amazing games to get a large audience in Asia.

“More and more developers in Asia are discovering the benefits of working with CryEngine 3,” said Carl Jones, Director of Global Business Development – CryEngine.

“With such a vast and passionate audience of gamers to cater for, developers need technology that allows them to work quickly whilst still ensuring the end product still stands out from the crowd. Increasingly, studios across Asia are realizing that makes CryEngine 3 the natural choice.”

They showed games like ArcheAge (XLGames), ASTA (Polygon Games), Baseball The Fan (Wisecat), Cabal2 (ESTSoft), Icarus (Wemade) and Tour Golf Online (Onnet).

This should be great news for Crytek considering they really need to find a lot of licensees especially in the west.
