Gears 5 Pumpkin Ball Begins, Upcoming Markza Changes Revealed

Take out foes in the Dodgeball variant to earn a free skin.

Halloween is next week and several titles like Borderlands 3 and Hitman 2 have in-game events starting soon. Throw in The Coalition’s Gears 5 which will see the debut of the Pumpkin Ball. This variation of Dodgeball is fairly simple – any players who are “Down But Not Out” will be revived immediately.

So of course, you have to aim for the head or explode your foes. Those who complete 13 matches of the game mode before the event ends will receive the Frankenstein Imago skin. Next week will see even more Halloween festivities with The Mad Man’s Monsters, a Horde event which offers 13 Jack-o-Lantern weapon skins.

Versus fans should also note that the Markza is undergoing some changes at 10 AM PT today. Body damage is being reduced by 30 percent; the active reload effect on fire rate, which was 25 percent, is being removed; an active reload effect for 25 percent more bullet damage is being added; and initial recoil is going up by 30 percent. Recoil and recovery speed have been reduced by 20 percent though.
