Genshin Impact Hits 17 Million Downloads in Four Days

The action RPG also reportedly grossed $50 million in revenue.

Mihoyo’s Genshin Impact may have been pegged as a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild but it’s succeeded pretty well since launch. Mobile analyst site App Annie noted that the free to play action RPG had seen 17 million downloads on mobile devices four days after its launch. This doesn’t account for PS4 and PC numbers, which means the overall total should be even higher.

Furthermore, it grossed $50 million revenue in its first week as per Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad. Speaking to IGN, Ahmad said that, “The game had more than 20 million pre-registrations prior to launch, of which more than 5 million were from outside China. This is a huge achievement not just for a Chinese developed game, but for a new original IP too.” Most of the revenue thus far has come from China, Japan and the United States.

Genshin Impact is a free to play title and while it has a gacha system for acquiring new characters, it’s been praised for its wealth of content, strong combat mechanics and high production values. More content is due in the coming days with update 1.1 so stay tuned for more details. You can also check out our review for Genshin Impact here.
