Genshin Impact Update Coming Today, Reverts Yae Miko’s Sesshou Sakura Targeting Change

Update 2.6 made the ability target the nearest enemy, completely nullifying Yae Miko's C2 passive, but miHoYo will be reverting the same.

Like many live service action RPGs, miHoYo Games’ Genshin Impact sees its fair share of nerfs and buffs for characters. Unfortunately, it seems that a change to Yae Miko’s targeting mechanic resulted in backlash from fans (especially since it came after her banner ended). Update 2.6 essentially changed the priority of her Sesshou Sakura targeting from random to the closest enemy but this completely nullified the advantage of her C2 passive which increases their damage and range.

Given her five-star nature – which means most definitely spending money to unlock all of the passive skills – this understandably upset fans. Fortunately, miHoYo is releasing an update today at 4 PM (UTC+8) to roll back the change. It also apologized to players and said it would “endeavor to adjust our testing and verification process in the future to avoid making changes that cause the user experience to suffer in certain scenarios. We will seek only to introduce fixes that optimize parts of the experience while otherwise maintaining the existing experience as-is.”

Following the update, Yae Miko’s Sesshou Sakura will once again target random foes at range (though other targeting changes will remain). 100 Primogems are also being provided as compensation. Players who reach Adventure Rank 5 or above by today at 4 PM can claim the same. Stay tuned for more details on further updates and changes in the coming days.
