Game Informer recently revealed God of War Ragnarok as its next cover story, as part of which the publication has said it’s going to showcase a total of roughly four minutes of new gameplay footage. We recently saw little bit of that, with new details on the upcoming sequel’s combat emerging as well, and now, we’ve got more to gawk at.
A new video uploaded by Game Informer reveals little over a minute of new gameplay footage, showcasing one of the new realms that Kratos and Atreus will be travelling to in the game- the Dwarven realm of Svartalfheim. SIE Santa Monica Studio has previously confirmed that all of the Nine Realms will be featured in God of War Ragnarok (as opposed to its predecessor, where three of the realms were inaccessible), with each realm being affected by Fimbulwinter in different ways.
In Midgard, the Lake of Nine is completely frozen over, which means that instead of rowing a boat, Kratos and Atreus will travel around by using a sled pulled by two wolves, Speki and Svanna. In Svartalfheim, on the other hand, the effects of Fimbulwinter are different, and boats will be in heavy use once again.
Svartalfheim will be much more lush and populated that what fans of the 2018 title might be used to, with the developers aiming to highlight Dwarven ingenuity, with various unique points of interest scattered throughout the realm, including mine pits, sprawling cities, artificial water channels, and more.
The level design in the Dwarven realm will also be much more intricate and vertical, while puzzles and traversal challenges will have their own unique flavour as well. Geysers spouting out of the ground can be frozen solid with the Leviathan Axe if you want to cross over, while on the other hand, you can also use the Blades of Chaos to break pots to in turn unleash geysers from underneath in some puzzles.
In addition to new gameplay footage, Game Informer has also shared some new gameplay screenshots. Check all of it out below.
God of War Ragnarok launches for PS5 and PS4 on November 9.
