God of War Sequel Development Might Be Ramping Up As Studio Looks To Staff Up

Sony Santa Monica is looking to hire people in several major positions.

God of War is the kind of game that makes you hungry for a sequel as soon as you’re done with it, not just because of how spectacular it is, but also it is specifically designed in a way where it sets up bigger and better things in future instalments. And it seems like developers Sony Santa Monica Studios are looking to ramp up development on the project, as multiple job openings seem to have opened at the studio.

Sony Santa Monica’s Twitter page recently put up an update, saying that they’re looking to “expand the family” with multiple job openings, including for positions such as Senior Combat Designer, Senior Narrative Animator, Technical Art Lead, Lead Level Designer, Senior Audio Programmer, and many, many others. It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together here- production on whatever it is that they’re working on next (the safest bet being God of War 2… or is it 5?) is ramping up, and given the timing, it seems likely that it’ll be a PS5 title.

Given the incredible critical success the game saw, not to mention its impressive sales, it’d be foolish to assume that Sony wouldn’t want to get started on sequel right away. It’s also extremely likely that the next God of War is going to be a much bigger and more ambitious title than its predecessor, which seems to be in line with how heavily the studio is looking to recruit new people as well.
