Grand Theft Auto 5 Has Shipped Over 175 Million Units, Red Dead Redemption 2 Surpasses 50 Million

Meanwhile, the GTA franchise has collectively shipped over 395 million units to date, with the Red Dead series standing at over 70 million.

Take-Two Interactive may not have seen the kind of sales it was expecting from Marvel’s Midnight Suns, but even when the company’s new releases sell below expectations, its back catalog continues to bring in revenue with persistent success. Two games from that catalog in particular – Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 – have refused to stop selling since their respective releases, and both have also passed significant milestones on that front.

In its latest quarterly fiscal report, Take-Two Interactive announced that as of December 31, 2022 Grand Theft Auto 5 has now shipped over 175 million units worldwide, while the series’ collective shipments sit at over 395 million units. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 has passed 50 million shipments, with the franchise as a whole now having shipped more than 70 million units.

At last count, as of September 30 last year, Grand Theft Auto 5 had shipped over 170 million units, while Red Dead Redemption 2 stood at 46 million, so clearly both games have enjoyed healthy sales over the course of the year’s final quarter.
