Grand Theft Auto 5 Ships Over 180 Million Units, Red Dead Redemption 2 Crosses 53 Million

Visual Concepts' NBA 2K23 has sold-in over 11 million units and achieved the series' highest-ever Virtual Currency sales.

Along with potentially hinting at Grand Theft Auto 6’s release window in its fourth quarter and full-year financial report for the fiscal year 2023, Take-Two Interactive provided updated sales figures on its biggest titles. Grand Theft Auto 5 is still the company’s most successful title, with over 180 million units sold-in to date and franchise sales of over 400 million.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold-in over 53 million units, with the series at over 75 million sales worldwide. In its prepared remarks, CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that NBA 2K23 sold-in over 11 million units, a new record for the series. It enjoys 2.3 million daily active users and has achieved the franchise’s highest-ever Virtual Currency sales.

Sadly, despite net revenue being up by 53 percent at $5.35 billion and net bookings up by 555 percent at $5.28 billion, Take-Two reported net losses of $1.12 billion for the full fiscal year. In the fourth quarter alone, it lost $610 million. Nevertheless, Zelnick believes that over $8 billion in net bookings in the fiscal year 2025 is achievable, thanks to “several groundbreaking titles” that will “set new standards in our industry.” Stay tuned in the meantime for more details.
