GTA 5 was delayed to September 17, and one publisher that was pleased with this move was Codemasters, whose game GRID 2 was scheduled to be released on May.
They have told Videogamer that GTA 5‘s delay is very good for sales of GRID 2. This applies to every game that will be released in the month, but considering racing games need more exposure, this is certainly good news.
“Yeah, in some ways for us I suppose it’s positive,” GRID 2 producer Vincent Muelle told the site.
“GTA and GRID are two different types of game, and if you look at GRID 1, it actually came out the same week as GTA IV and it did really well. So that’s why we were not especially worried at the time that GTA was coming in the same month, due to the performance of GRID 1.”
GTA 5 is expected to sell 20 million units, so any game that will be released near it will face problems. GRID 2 comes out on May 21st on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
