The wait is on for the next Guilty Gear game, Strive. Arc System and Bandai Namco have been releasing starter videos to get people prepped for playing the flashy fighter, and it’s even looking to invade at least one other fighting game franchise. Now we have a technical breakdown on what you can expect from the various PlayStation versions of the game.
The folks over at VG Tech did a video test focusing on the framerate for the PS5, PS4 Pro and PS4 versions of the game from the recent beta. The good news is that, FPS-wise, the game largely runs pretty well no matter which of the three hardware was tested. While the base PS4 saw the most drops, as you’d expect, it was still solid.
Resolution, however, was a different story. As they broke down in the comments to the video, the PS5 renders the game in native 3840×2160, the PS4 Pro 1920×1080 and the base PS4 drops to 1536×864. The PS4 Pro also has a strange issue where if your system is outputting at 2160p, it will try to render the UI at 3840×2160, which causes stuttering issues. They recommend putting your PS4 Pro to output on 1080p, which solved the issue on their end.
Guilty Gear Strive will release April 9th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
