Guilty Gear Strive

The final starter video for Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear Strive is finally here ahead of the upcoming open beta. It details the various basic actions that all characters can perform like Dust Attacks, Sweeps, Roman Cancels and more. Check it out below.

Though deceptively simple on the surface, there’s a lot going on with these mechanics. Defense, for instance, can be a “Just Defend” that blocks an attack at the last moment without getting knocked back. On the other hand, there’s Faultless Defense which can be used to nullify any chip damage while blocking at the cost of the Tension Gauge.

Roman Cancels also have varying properties depending on whether you’re attacking or defending against an opponent, opening up counters and combo extensions in the process. The Guilty Gear Strive open beta takes place from February 18th to 21st on PS4 and PS5. The full game is out on both consoles and PC on April 9th.
