News of Microsoft and Nintendo working together more closely, with the former bringing Game Pass and xCloud to the Switch, broke yesterday, with multiple outlets corroborating the rumors. While this news is undoubtedly exciting, it was also accompanied with the rumor that Microsoft would be launching native ports of some of their games on the Switch—the example given at the time being Ori and the Blind Forest.
However, according to an independent two month-long investigation conducted by JeuxVideo, which they reported on today, there is also a possibility that some of Microsoft’s flagship franchises could be coming to the Switch. To make it clear—Halo, Gears of War, Forza, and Rare games could all be coming to the Switch.
The report does stress these are just rumors, and does not clarify what capacity these games would come to Switch on—would it, for example, be ports of older Xbox 360 games from the series, which would be easier to get running on the Switch?
This is all, of course, still a rumor for now—but assuming there is any veracity to it whatsoever, Microsoft might be willing to back Nintendo and the Switch far more than even yesterday’s rumor might have led you to believe.
