Halo Infinite’s recently released technical preview has given fans the chance to try out its multiplayer offerings over the last few days, but other potential details on the game have also come to light as result. 343 Industries mistakenly went live with the beta with spoiler-filled files of the game’s campaign included, for instance, and it seems they may have left in something else as well that suggests at other unannounced things.
As uncovered by a ResetEra user, the beta contains an audio file that refers to a battle royale mode, with the famous Halo announcer simply saying “battle royale.” That’s all there is to the audio file, but it doesn’t get clearer than that. Of course, it’s entirely likely that the recording was just included in case 343 Industries decides to include battle royale in the future, or maybe it’s related to Forge- but either way, it does seem to indicate that battle royale is something that the developer is thinking of.
For what it’s worth, 343 Industries has said several times in the past that it doesn’t plan on including battle royale mode in Halo Infinite, at least at launch. Given the free-to-play nature of the game’s multiplayer component though, it’s entirely likely that plans may have changed, and a battle royale mode may indeed be in the pipeline.
Halo Infinite is set to receive several more technical previews in the coming weeks and months, with the developer having said that future betas will be larger in scope. The game itself launches this Holiday for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
