Halo Infinite’s next season, Echoes Within arrives next week and brings new content, including two new Arena maps in Chasm and Cliffhanger. There’s also a new Big Team Battle map, Oasis. Check out a quick preview of all three in a new video.
Halo Waypoint also spoke to multiplayer level designer Cliff Schuldt, art director Donnie Taylor and lead multiplayer environment technical artist Kim Haines about the maps. Oasis is described as a “mosh pit of pure vehicular fun for BTB” with a beautiful skybox. Cliffhanger is an ONI black site on a mountain with man cannons, and Chasm is like Halo: Combat Evolved’s Boarding Action with Grappleshots.
Season 3 also adds Escalation Slayer, introduced in Halo: The Master Chief Collection in 2021. It’s like Gun Game, where each kill sees players earning new loadouts, ending with the Oddball. There are two variants – Team Escalation, where teams progress through loadouts together, and FFA Escalation, which is every player for themselves.
Escalation Slayer will get a BTB version and a “Super” variant that adds the upgrades and special weapons from the campaign. Season 3: Echoes Within starts on March 7th, so stay tuned for more details on the sandbox, Playlist updates, and more.
