Halo series sells 50 million units

Bewm bewm go the sales.

Mirosoft has announced that its flagship franchise, Halo, has crossed 50 million units of sales worldwide, and that people have now spent over 6 billion hours playing Halo on Xbox Live.

Collectively, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars, Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 4 amount to eight games in the series, and eight games selling 50 million units is a very impressive number indeed.

Halo 4 was recently released, a few weeks back, and it was met with critical acclaim, as well as commercial success. It grossed $220 million in its first in its first 24 hours. Prior to Halo 4’s launch, Microsoft had sold 46 million Halo games, suggesting that so far, Halo 4 has sold around 4 million units.

In our review of Halo 4, we gave it a 9/10, saying that while it “may not be Bungie who is pulling the strings”, it “looks, feels and plays like the Halo games we know and love.”
