343 Industries’ Halo: The Master Chief Collection was slated to have its first PC beta – or “flight” – this month. Community director Brian Jarrard didn’t fully commit to the same though, and it’s probably for the best. It was confirmed in a recent tweet that the first PC beta has been delayed.
In a recent tweet, Jarrard admitted that his initial announcement didn’t age well, and noted, “This project is complex, and being transparent means sometimes things change vs. what we originally hoped.” It seems the first public flights are “pushing out further than originally targeted”, but Jarrard promised more information to come soon.
In fact, in a follow-up tweet, Jarrard noted that a development blog post should be going live by today. At the very least, we should have an update on the PC beta’s current status. Considering the number of issues that the Xbox One version of The Master Chief Collection launched with, it’s probably for the best that 343 Industries takes its time for the PC release.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection was announced for PC in March, having originally launched in 2014 for Xbox One. It will include Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST’s campaign, Halo 4, and even Halo: Reach. Each game will be rolled out separately, but you can expect the entire collection to be out on PC by the end of this year.
