Horizon Call of the Mountain Officially Announced for PSVR2

Guerrilla Games and recently-acquire Firesprite Games are together working on a new Horizon game exclusively for the upcoming PlayStation VR2.

Sony recently officially announced PlayStation VR2 at CES 2022, and to go along with that, the company has also unveiled the first major game that’s being developed for the VR headset. True to the leaks, Guerrilla Games and freshly-acquired first party PlayStation studio Firesprite Games are together working in new game in the Horizon series, called Horizon Call of the Mountain.

Details on the game are currently scant, but it’s being described as “a unique new Horizon experience” that is being “built from the ground-up” to fully leverage the hardware capabilities of the PlayStation VR2 headset and all the improvements that the PSVR2 Sense controller boasts.

Players will play as a completely new character, though familiar faces – including series protagonist Aloy – will also show up, along with some new characters. Guerrilla says details on the protagonist and on the game in general will be coming “soon”, but hasn’t elaborated on when exactly that’ll be. There’s no word yet on a launch window either.

A very brief in-game teaser has also been released, the bulk of which is a message from Guerrilla Games studio director Jan-Bart van Beek, with a few seconds of in-game footage being showed off at the end. Check it out below.

Meanwhile, Horizon Forbidden West is not far away from launch either, and is set to release on PS5 and PS4 on February February 18.
