Multiple job listings from Horizon: Zero Dawn developers Guerrilla Games over the past few months have suggested that they are working on a sequel to their 2017 open world RPG (not that that was ever in doubt, even in the absence of an official announcement), and another recent job ad on the developer’s official website points to the same possibility.
The listing – for the position of Senior Game Writer – mentions a requirement of “extensive knowledge of stories and narrative design in open-world RPGs” and talks about things that point to a game in vein of Horizon. There’s multiple mentions of “compelling” writing, dialogue, factions, backstories, and characters, while the listing also states that the applicant will be required to “develop narrative designs for quests, gameplay activities and game features.”
“Our writers are driven to push the boundaries of dramatic storytelling in open-world games,” states the introduction of the job ad. “We want players to feel hooked by our quests and characters, to enjoy dialogue that crackles, and to savor our stories long after they put down the controller.”
The ad, of course, doesn’t explicitly mention Horizon: Zero Dawn or a sequel – which makes sense, since Sony haven’t officially announced that yet – but an open world narrative-driven action RPG sure sounds like that.
Just recently, we also reported on a job ad posted by Guerrilla Games for the position of Lead Creature Animator to develop “engaging creatures for our compelling gameplay.” Read more on that through here.
2017’s Horizon: Zero Dawn is also due out for PC this summer.
