Kingdom Come: Deliverance Developer Acquired By THQ Nordic

Czech developer Warhorse Studios joins THQ Nordic's ever-growing list of acquisitions.

THQ Nordic’s string of acquisitions of development studios and game IPs has become well known to everyone by this point. Properties like TimeSplittersKingdoms of Amalurand Outcastas well as studios including the likes of Coffee Stain and Bugbear Entertainment, have all joined THQ Nordic’s ever-growing roster in just the last few months. And now, they’ve announced another acquisition, and one that is pretty significant.

Czech development team Warhorse Studios, who developed last year’s open world RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance, have been acquired by THQ Nordic, the publisher announced. The acquisition was made for €33.2 million “on cash and debt-free basis”. THQ Nordic also provided an update on the sales of Kingdom Come: Deliverance during their announcement. Where the RPG had managed to cross a million copies moved a year ago, by now, it’s sold 2 million units worldwide.

Though THQ Nordic have been on a spending spree in recent months, they have said that not every IP they acquire will be receiving sequels. Given the success seen by Kingdom Come, however, and the fact that it isn’t a defunct property like many of the other properties were before they were acquired by THQ Nordic, it’d be surprising if they did not invest in a sequel.
