The day’s finally arriving- more than five years since its first reveal at E3 2013, Square Enix have wrapped up development on Kingdom Hearts 3, they announced via Twitter. Tetsuya Nomura, director of Kingdom Hearts 3, posted a message on the game’s official Twitter page to confirm the same, while also revealing a new trailer.
He also suggested that you prepare for the game’s imminent arrival by playing previous titles to refresh your memory (or experience them for the first time ever, as the case may be). If you have a PS4, picking up Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far might be a good option if that is what you’re looking to do- it combines every single Kingdom Hearts game ever into a single package, for just $40.
While development on Kingdom Hearts 3 has wrapped up, I imagine the developers will continue to work on fixing issues or bugs before the game releases, which might come in the form of a day one patch. As for Nomura, I guess it’s time for him to move on to Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Kingdom Hearts 3 launches on PS4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2019.
