Kingdom Hearts 3’s Latest Trailer Demonstrates Significant Visual Improvements Over E3 2013 Reveal

The game looks so much better now.

An extended trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 was recently revealed, and the visuals looked absolutely gorgeous, both from a technical and art perspective. It has certainly come a long way since it was first revealed with a trailer back at E3 2013, and it’s great to see that there have been so many visual improvements.

DualShockers has uploaded a video (which you can see below) that tangibly shows just how much of an improvement Kingdom Hearts 3’s visuals have seen in the five years since it was first announced. The video compares a scene from the original reveal trailer, with that same scene as it is seen now in the new extended trailer. It is quite a short scene of Sora bending down to pick up his Keyblade, and… that’s about it.

Even so, it’s easy to tell even from this short scene just how much the visual quality of the game has been improved over the past few years with improvements to textures, lightning, shadows, and lots more. While the game was originally being made using the Luminous engine, the developers started using the Unreal Engine about a year later, which has been used for plenty of other recent Square Enix titles as well, including the likes of Octopath Traveler and Dragon Quest 11.

Honestly, just seeing the comparison side by side makes the five  year wait seem worth it! You can check  out the video comparing the graphics below. Kingdom Hearts 3 launches in January next year for the PS4 and Xbox One.
