King’s Quest Gets a New Development Diary

Simply gorgeous.

Last year at The Game Awards, newly resurrected Sierra announced that it would be reviving the classic King’s Quest series of games with a brand new entry in the franchise. Today, they are sharing a new development diary that updates fans on the development process, and how it has been coming along. It’s called King’s Quest: A Hand Painted Game, and it takes you behind the scenes with Art Director Evan Cagle and Producer Lindsey Rostal of The Odd Gentlemen to see how the artwork of King’s Quest is born on the page before coming to life on screen.

The original King’s Quest games utilized a vivid and stark graphical style, that became a hallmark of the series; however, that style was borne as much out of the technology and limitations of that era, as it was out of artistic choice. To accurately replicate that look with the new game, the team is employing a similar technique to give this incredible reimagining of a classic tale the truly stunning storybook look it deserves.

King’s Quest will be out on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC later this year.
